About Us

So by now you’re already following us on Twitter (@honeybirdtravel) and wondering who are these interesting folk that travel around having a great time and generally enjoying life? Here is a brief introduction about us.

Jeanette is the main writer, editor, coffee consumer and Tweeter in this little team of adventurers. With an extensive background in hospitality, international horse transport and logistics it’s usually Jeanette who dreams and puts the dreams into an efficient travel itinerary. This stems from her current job as an executive assistant and chief cat herder.

In recent years she has successfully competed in numerous equestrian pursuits and adventure racing as well as studying International Development and Anthropology. Who would have thought that someone who hates riding up hills would happily compete in adventure racing?

James aka Skinnyman is the map reader, beer drinker, mountain bike mechanic and international cross country rider and general helpful life partner to Jeanette. With a flair for adventure and unique sports. He has amazing campfire cooking skills, is a master at packing all our gear into logical and easy to carry way. As well as the driver extraordinaire (predominately because Jeanette has a tendency to fall asleep as soon as she is comfortable in a car/bus/train/plane).

Currently based in the beautiful caffeinated Melbourne.

Our love story is a simple one. Two travelers meet over a photo of a ninja possum and a bottle of wine with friends. 4 years later and here we are traveling the world as often as possible. Reguarly accompanied by our two little rescue dogs Milly and Toby as we travel around Australia.
